Kiwis in New Zealand - a report by Ashton

A kiwi bird is a small flightless bird. It is only found in New Zealand. The kiwi has a long beak it uses for getting food.  A kiwi is covered in brown feathers and it is about 50 cm tall.  It’s about 20 cm long and its feet are about 9 cm long. It’s feet are strong and they have sharp claws. This helps them run fast and fight predators.
The kiwi lives in rainforests and special protected islands around New Zealand, and also islands like Brown Island, Stewart Island and Waiheke. Kiwis eat worms and their beak helps the kiwi get their food. The beak has nostrils for sniffing out their food. A kiwi can live for 25 to 50 years and it finds dark places to live. They lay their  eggs every season.The  kiwi can run faster than a human. It sleeps during the day and hunts for food at night time.  
I think that kiwis are a nice bird that represents New Zealand.

WAL: about how plants grow best


This is what I think about how plants grow.
We will be doing some experiments to find out if it is true.

1. How much sunlight do plants need to grow?
Not much, about 12 hours a day. Some can be a lot.

2. Can plants grow in the shade? Can they grow inside?
Yes because we  have some plants in our house.

3. Can plants grow better by talking to them? Why?
No because plants have no ears.

4. Can plants grow in sand? or rocks? Why?
Some can and some can’t. Cactus can but all the others can't.

5. How much water do plants need to grow? What type of water?
Not so much but at least once a day. ( Clean water )

6. Can you feed plants food? If yes, what kind?
No plant make their own food.

WALT: write an explanation that is clear and east to follow, and includes headings and detail

Sketching shells
Firstly,we had to sketch some shells with a pencil.
We sketched the main lines on the inside of the shell.
We did it carefully so we don’t  do it wrong.

Transferring Design
Secondly,we had to transferred the shell that we drew before on a piece of paper.
We had to draw the thing that we draw before on a piece of paper onto a piece of cardboard.
Then we went over it with vivid.  
Scrunching the cardboard
Next,we scrunching the cardboard until it was slof.
And all wrinkly.
But not too wrinkly.       

Adding colour
Finally,we added colour. The colours were brown,black and white.
And then we stick it all to other and it makes a tapa cloth.

In the holidays I went in my van and we drove to church and we went inside and we got in a group. My sister was in the blue team and my brother was in the red team. I was in the green team. 


I went to camp because it was fun and it was cool. My leader's name was Marcus and we got in a circle and we all said our name.

Next we got in our groups and we had to remember everyones names. I stayed there for 1 day and I did lots of activities like bull rush. Then we went outside, went on the bus and went to church and we went home. I had I lot of fun.

My Sleep Over. A recount by Ashton

My mum and I are going to my aunt's house we went on Wednesday. I went to my aunt’s house so I can have fun playing with my cousin.

I woke up happy I put warm clothes on then we started to walk too ferndale rd when I got there I was tired from a long walk. I was allowed to stay for the night at my aunt’s house that night we went to sylvia park we were looking around. After that we went back home. My cousin and I
played with the lego. Then we had nachos for dinner and it was nice after that we played hide and  go seek in the dark Then we went to sleep.

The next morning we had to wake up early to take my aunt's friend to court.
I enjoyed my sleep over because I had fun playing lots of games.

My Hero.

Once upon a time there lived a hero named Puss in Boots.  He was the best cat living in New Zealand. One day he had to complete a mission. His mission was to find a lost treasure in a dark, dark cave.

He came to the cave. It was a fox's cave. Puss in Boots saw 24 foxes. The leader was named Bad Eye. His helper was called Red Eye.

Puss in Boots took out his sword and got ready to fight.  He attacked the foxes. All the foxes stopped and decided to give him the treasure instead.

Puss in Boots went back to his house with the treasure and to eat his dinner of yummy cat food. Puss in Boots loved his cat food and home was where his bed was too.

Report on Zone Swimming

On Tuesday 29 March the swimming group went to Sacred Heart College to compete at the Zone Swimming.

I enjoyed myself. I entered the backstroke and won my race. I also had the fastest lap time of anybody in the backstroke. I couldn't compete in the final however, because my leg was sore.

It was the first time the school had entered the Zone Swimming and we all had a great time. I thought that it was a cool and amazing day.

I would really like to go to next years Zone Swimming.
